April 24, 2026 - AhnLab participated in Locked Shields 2026, an international cyber defense exercise organized by NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), from April 20 to 24.
Locked Shields is the world’s largest cyber defense exercise and has been held annually since 2010 to strengthen cyber crisis response capabilities among NATO members. As the exercise opened up more broadly to private-sector participants last year, AhnLab joined Team Korea and has participated for the second consecutive year.
AhnLab’s threat response and analysis specialists took part in the technical exercise as members of the Blue Team, where they carried out threat detection and response against live attacks. They supported the full incident response process, including detecting and blocking attacks, analyzing threat actors, identifying the cause of compromise, and securing evidence, while demonstrating stable response capabilities in complex attack scenarios designed to mirror real-world environments. In particular, they contributed to the exercise by quickly identifying a wide range of threats and seamlessly integrating analysis and response.
Suk-Kyoon Kang, CEO of AhnLab, said, “Through this exercise, AhnLab responded to a wide range of attack scenarios designed to closely reflect real-world environments and was able to assess its integrated response capabilities based on the analytical expertise, response capabilities, and hands-on experience of its people. AhnLab will continue to strengthen its security capabilities so it can respond effectively to an evolving cyber threat landscape, building on the expertise of its people and the response experience it has accumulated over time.”
About Locked Shields
Held annually since 2010, Locked Shields is the world’s largest cyber defense exercise organized by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE). The exercise consists of a strategic exercise, which assesses cooperation and policy coordination among participating countries, and a technical exercise, which focuses on defending against live attacks. It comprehensively tests real-time defense and crisis response capabilities in a scenario in which a virtual NATO member state comes under large-scale cyberattack. Participants are assigned to teams by role: White Team for exercise control, Green Team for infrastructure operations, Yellow Team for situational awareness, Blue Team for defense, and Red Team for attack operations. This year’s exercise brought together about 4,000 cyber experts from 39 countries, including around 170 experts from 47 public, private-sector, and military organizations in Korea.
