A Mighty Tree Starts from a Strong Seed: From V3 to EDR
Anti-virus product, which is the one of the very traditional security solutions, is still mandatory for endpoint security, but not the advanced function for modern cybersecurity. Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) has stood out among endpoint security solutions lately. Ironically, however, the prominence of EDR has brought AhnLab’s anti-virus product, V3, into the limelight.
The year 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of AhnLab’s anti-virus solution, V3. One of the first anti-virus software in the world, V3 was initially distributed free of charge to combat the virus Brain in 1988. Since then, V3 has evolved greatly in response to the changing landscape of cybersecurity threats.
Multiple global certification institutions now recognize it as one of the world’s authorized anti-malware solution. AV-TEST GmbH, the independent research institute for IT security, awarded V3 as the Top Product for the sixth time in a row. Top Product is a designation granted by AV-TEST only to the highest-scoring products among the global security software evaluated by the organization.
This report presents the nature-friendly perspective of V3 and its evolution from an anti-virus into an EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) solution.
