AhnLab establishes presence in Singapore: RSAC APAC 2015
RSA Conference Asia Pacific & Japan (RSAC APAC) 2015 was held at Singapore's Marina Bay Sands from 22 to 24 July. RSAC APAC is a global security conference and this year it attracted more than 60 information security companies from all over the world. The conference showcases the latest security technologies and products. Over the three days, global leading companies and industry professionals participated in various sessions to share the latest global security trends and in-depth analyses on the security threats active in Asia.
Singapore celebrates 50 years of independence this year. Our attendance at RSAC APAC 2015 took place during this auspicious year in Singaporean history and AhnLab’s expansion in the region reinforces our commitment to information security in Southeast Asia.
Singapore, a center of excellence for Information Security in Southeast Asia
Despite being geographically small, Singapore has undisputed global economic power being demonstrated by that Singapore ranks the highest in GDP per capita in Asia, surpassing Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea. The business environment is a major contributing factor in their success and many multinational companies base themselves in Singapore due to its pro-business economic structure. For these reasons, global security firms use Singapore as a regional base to extend their reach into countries in the Southeast Asian security market such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

On July 22, security experts gathered in the Singapore Marina Bay Sands to participate in RSAC APAC 2015. This year's theme was ‘CHANGE: Challenge today's security thinking’, focusing participants on the theme that new, innovative approaches and methods are needed for a safe digital future.
More than 60 global firms and local partners participated in RSAC APAC 2015. Some locally based companies introduced products on behalf of their global partners. This highlighted that a partnership model between global and local entities was a common tool used by many global firms to successfully conduct business in the region. Many Japanese security firms, not usually obvious at global security events, also participated. In addition, Chinese IT giant Alibaba attended and took the opportunity to highlight their mobile security solution 'Alibaba Open Platform’.

For us at AhnLab, our second time at RSAC APAC allowed us to introduce key products to the region. AhnLab MDS (Malware Defense System), an advanced security threat response solution and AhnLab EPS (Endpoint Protect System), a security solution for critical infrastructure systems and fixed function systems. These products are part of AhnLab's strategy to expand our global influence in the market, and are exported to Taiwan, Vietnam, and China, actively acquiring global references. AhnLab MDS uses a comprehensive process that 'detects, analyzes, monitors, and responds' to provide a tangible and realistic response system for advanced threats. The other product we showcased, AhnLab EPS, provides an optimized security solution for highly sensitive operation for critical control and infrastructure system that only utilize specific programs.
All through the event, customers from a variety of Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong and security analysts from Gartner and Frost and Sullivan visited the AhnLab booth. They wanted to know more about AhnLab, AhnLab's technology, product competitiveness, and business plan for Southeast Asia. There are a lot of queries about AhnLab EPS, confirming industrial traits of Southeast Asia where the manufacturing industry thrives.

AhnLab’s participation at this event was in conjunction with our local partner Systex. Systex, an IT service company formed in 1997, has over 3,000 employees across 48 branches in Taiwan, Singapore, China, and Hong Kong. AhnLab and Systex invited customers to a small seminar to discuss security issues and solutions tailored for Southeast Asian customers.
On the final day of the conference, Kamil Jumat, a Technical Director of AhnLab's Singapore office, presented the original technology behind AhnLab MDS at the Demo Theatre in the Sands Grand Ball-room. During the presentation, Kamil demonstrated how AhnLab MDS uses its patented DICA (Dy-namic Intelligent Content Analysis) technology to diagnose a threat before it occurs, regardless of the malicious event, unlike conventional event-based detection methods. This presentation generated a lot of interest.
AhnLab’s Singapore office opened in February, 2014. Our Singapore office is our regional base through which we continue to develop and expand partner relationships with local IT service firms. In addition, AhnLab plans to increase our brand recognition in the Southeast Asia region by using marketing activities, such as conferences and seminars and by extending training opportunities to our partners.
