AhnLab Puts in Appearance at RSAConference for 4th Straight Year
RSAConference 2015 (RSAC 2015), the world's largest security conference, was held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, USA, on April 20th (local time). Under the slogan of "CHANGE: Challenge Today's Security Thinking", the RSAC2015 was attended by over 33,000 security experts and more than 500 security vendors competing fiercely to promote their latest technologies and products while at the same time sharing the latest security trends.
Taking part in the event for the fourth straight year, AhnLab showcased the cutting-edge technologies and products designed to combat a wide range of the latest security threats including "AhnLab MDS", an advanced persistent threats protection solution; "AhnLab EPS", a dedicated security solution for fixed function systems including PoS systems; and "V3 Mobile Security", the one-stop security solution for the smartphone. With "Resolution: Security Intelligence" as our campaign tagline for this year's event, AhnLab made a strong presence at the show by offering a different perspective to defeat today's increasingly advanced and diversifying threats. Let’s take a look.

As with previous years, banners announcing the return of RSAC and AhnLab to San Francisco adorned the Howard Street once again. RSAC banners were hung around Moscone Center before the conference began, catching the eyes of visiting security experts from around the world for 13 days until the event drew to a close.

Over 2,000 visitors stopped by AhnLab's booth during the main three-day conference, excluding the first day which featured gala events. Visitors appeared to pay special attention to presentations in the booth on the latest threats and countermeasures, covering topics such as "Stay Ahead of Advanced Attacks" and "The Proliferation of Malware: from PoS Today to IoT Tomorrow".

One of the biggest appeals of RSAC is that the event is an opportunity to share the latest in security technology. AhnLab organized a 30-minute presentation titled "Beyond the Behavioral Analysis against APTs" through the RSAC Briefing Center that introduced methods for detecting unknown threats regardless of the occurrence of malicious behavior that utilizes AhnLab's exclusive Dynamic Intelligent Content Analysis (DICA) technology instead of traditional methods that rely on behavior-based detection. Audiences especially showed big interests in demonstrations by Sean S.H Jeon, a senior researcher at AhnLab, how AhnLab MDS detects malicious document file (non-PE malware) that is being observed with increasing frequency.

AhnLab MDS (Malware Defense System) is already widely known among global security experts as a leading APT protection soluton. Thus it was no surprise that AhnLan MDS would grab the attention of visitors to RSAC 2015. AhnLab MDS is designed to detect and analyze unknown files using DICA and other proprietary technology, using "execution holding" technology to block the threat before it is activated.

During the event, numerous visitors made inquiries about AhnLab EPS (Endpoint Protection System), a specialized security solution for fixed function systems including point-of-sales (PoS) system. The rising number of PoS security breach incidents in US for the past several years, including the hacking of Target, a large retail company in US, in late 2013, has led to a louder demand for a new and different security solution for PoS system. AhnLab EPS uses its exclusive intelligent whitelisting technology that allows only the execution of authorized programs, providing optimum security to PoS systems and other environments where traditional security solutions such as anti-virus software can't effectively be deployed.

AhnLab's mobile security technology has received top marks from numerous high-profile global AV testing institutes, including 14 straight AV-TEST certifications. During RSAC2015 AhnLab prominently featured its "V3 Mobile Security" that was released through Google Play in April, wowing visitors with extensive features ranging from malware detection to privacy protection.
AhnLab had something for every visitor this year including booth presentations, videos and whitepapers. During RSAC 2013 AhnLab had made available "APTs for Dummies", which explained APTs in an easy-to-understand format; this year, the company provided a whitepaper titled "Advanced Exploits, What You Need to Know About" to help visitors understand about the latest threat trends.
AhnLab is a constant and valued companion to security experts around the world. Besides, the name of AhnLab was a familiar sight in and out of the conference venue during RSAC 2015.
“We are quite pleased to be involved in such an exciting event, RSAC 2015” said Chi-jung Kwon, the CEO of AhnLab, adding that “with the continuous increase of Sinister and targeted attacks such as Advanced Persistent Threats (APT), AhnLab will continue to provide strategies and solutions to the global market that are designed to respond effectively to the latest security threats."
Following RSAC 2015, AhnLab will participate in a number of security-related conferences around the world including the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit to be held this June in Washington D.C. as well as events in Vietnam, Singapore and other locations throughout Asia. By taking part in these events, AhnLab plans to diversify its approach to the global market while developing local distribution channels to establish a global business model that is tailored and localized for each regional market.
